I actually thought Vash was going to be able to resist it somehow with like some memories gone as consequence of Nai's action but Nai was actually able to succeed to remake Vash, I am surprised he was able to actually reach the core. It was sad to see Vash's memories getting wiped out one by one like that and unable to do anything.

Seeing the Independent that was tested on before them was really sad, that must have been so terrifying to see in front of them and I can see why upon seeing that, Nai decided that humans were not worth the time.

I had this on hold but catching up has been worth it, this ended up being so good and I can't wait to see how they wrap everything up. Will Wolfwood appear? Will Vash be able to come back again? If he does come back will he be empty as his memories were wiped out? Is the worm lady going to fight that gigantic plant? So many questions.

broodo aka Dorian Brooks • 1 year ago

From a totality standpoint, Knives is right about humanity never learning from its mistakes. Just as much as Vash is correct to believe in the individual's ability to change.
They both are just coming a it from opposite ends of the extreme.

MarkZ • 1 year ago

If we never learned, we'd never get to this point. Steadily, we're getting better with every new generation, and the one reason we still have a lot of problems is the arrogance and silly idea we know something, while the one main field, which is morals, self knowledge and philosophy has seen even less progress and development as other fields... But its moving.

Porthya • 10 months ago

I don't mean any offense, but by the the end of your own comment, you've managed to prove the opposite, that mankind as a species capable of improvement is systematically taking down all the main pillars that helped us build any form of civilisation and at least try to get to know something. We're practically going 1 step forward, 2 steps back right now. And we are taking the planet down with us, just like this piece of fiction is saying.

MarkZ • 10 months ago

Only if you look at stuff in decades, and not centuries as you should. Years and decades is nothing in the grand scheme of things, and the overall tendency is definitely up. As per the planet, well, both it and life will survive, with or without us, no matter what we do, so stop that liberal doomsday shit. Even if the worst global warming predictions happen, the sea can't rise by over 80 meters, which translates to only 10% land loss, max earth closed system temperature rise is also only 20c, the system will just not allow for more, and i doubt it could ever even get that far no matter what we do. And well, okay, it'll make more land around the equator uninhabitable, but allow more to move to the poles, and population density in the world is extremely low in most places anyway, so we CAN house everyone still, also provide enough food for everyone even then with newer tech and if we stop extreme food waste and resource waste on all the random unneeded shit which we do it on now. Also would help if certain regions would stop overpopulating like mad, cuz unlike the party line, the west population is DECLINING for over 2 decades. The only real long term threats to humanity (NOT the planet) are plastic and chemical pollution, which no one seems to give a shit about, unlike the co2 bogeyman and other liberal apocalypse worries. When we shrink, and eventually get over the phase of pretending we need governments and that they work, everything will be A-ok, and we WILL get there, sooner or later, sooner at this rate.

Porthya • 10 months ago

I would look at centuries if only the past one and couple of decades hadn't changed the speed at which the world changes to extreme levels. For that matter, the technology and speed of information circulation in the past few decades since the rise of the internet(which I love as much as the next person, but I'm not gonna ignore the downsides to overusing it either) has put a very strong cog in the spanner of personal(and realistic inter-personal) development. We like to think that it eases contact and access to knowledge, but in fact it eases depersonalisation and dehumanisation, as well as lazyness in thinking, for the most part. Cue the mainly American madness over gender identity. From what's reached me there are areas there still seriously struggling against poverty and illiteracy(dw, my own people do that too, it's just we're poorer and far less inluential on the planet, but that also makes the contrast less glaring) and yet some very vocal individuals want to force a plethora of new phonologically torturous to both Eng speares and foreigners pronouns into common use. Meanwhile, a couple of other gung ho powers(and their associates) are stiffling mankind and other similarly less sturdy species with war, a heavy dose of toxic materials Earth is already choking on(and the idea that, dw, both we and the planet can plow through that, don't change your habits to less consumeristic ones), and why not, straight out biological warfare. Covid(whether accidentally or intentionally set loose) is still a thing, it's been a thing for the past 3 years and, while toning down, it's already done a sh*t ton of damage, beyond physiological lasting effects. Not to ignore the already existing issues with other viruses and ever increasing number of syndromes and mutations the species can't keep up with in resilience(at least not outside India or China, I guess).
And the number of sociopaths in charge taking advantage of all such issues with medical, schooling, and other vital elements of civilisation to claim even more power and brutally eliminate more humans, destroy immediate resource outlets, instead of supporting the struggle for survival only makes a difference from the Middle Ages in how far more intensely and lasting the destruction can be.
I'm not discussing anything liberal, as I'm non-American(the people to whom "liberal", "conservative", etc views matter most, as if in a capitalist society a regular citizen would really make a change by voting and claiming to have liberal, democratic or whatever views, while staying off the actual political stage) and apolitical(or at best sharing this opinion with one group, the other opinion with another, just like any other person with a personal take on society at large), I'm merely stating things as I see them around myself and in people I interact with, close or foreign.
Also, your mathematical/textbook assessment(no doubt under the influence of optimism or idealism) of our circumstances ignore the human element living outside of it, e.g. the walls some nations put up as an effect of instinctive defensive mechanisms against "strangers" and how plenty of countries with resources and, in some cases, even aging population, refuse to take in refugees which eventually warrant some aspects of their fears to play out, as a result of a clash between rejection and despair. Selfishness and empty individuality ever-rising.
TL; DR We're much sooner to destroy both environment and ourselves before we can actually adjust to climatic changes and move to "greener pastures". And I would've preferred we both made it out safe and sound, but it's clearly not happening, as things go.

Reemus • 1 year ago

This is not to say Vash is completely absorbed. If you check the form of the massive plant forming above July, it resembles a female human, possibly Rem. Might or might not be a sign Vash is not fully under their control.

However, I expect something to go horribly wrong with Nai's intervention into Plant dimension and, as a result, create a new immediate threat to the planet, so everyone has to actually fight against it.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Will have to see in the next and last ep Nan.

GreenTea Gal • 1 year ago

hell of a cliff i'm hanging from! [ brother complex intensifies ] if knives isn't the most ripped house plant ya ever did see... Also i like that vash sprouts nurturing roots from his back instead of blades like his destructive brother

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

As of this year, yes Knives is the most ripped is house plant seen XD

Nan Demo K(Nai)ves • 1 year ago

I don't think he'd appreciate being called a house plant lol.

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Shhhhhhhhhhh lol

Jack • 1 year ago

Dang that's quite the episode, wish she had shot the doc, but it doesn't really matter anymore lol. One thing to say now:" Happy birthday Vash". XD, is this the last one too or more to come?

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

broodo aka Dorian Brooks • 1 year ago

Meryl isn't there yet in her character development to be popping caps

SenicAsianRoute • 1 year ago

also it would not help really Nai would just go "Dammit gonna take longer now sigh oh you lady fuk you" *stab*

Reemus • 1 year ago

The way they approach antagonism is this series is interesting - Vash and, mostly, Nai getting angry at humans is because of their experiments with Tesla, their other sibling. But unlike most other series, there is no evil scientist doing these experiments and waiting to be defeated. Normally, you would have someone be the instigator of doom, who gets revealed and defeated by either party, while the parties also make amends and stop their cycle of revenge.

In Stampede, there is no such antagonist. Someone did experiments on Tesla, end of the story. Humans just did it, because they had to, because they thought it might bring them salvation - the fact remains that there is no named antagonist/mad scientist who could bear responsibility for in-human experiments. And this is why the take is fresh - Nai cannot "let it go" after punishing just someone. Humanity on the planet on the whole, in the in-story context, is responsible for what happened to Tesla. Nai cannot beat someone up and call it a day, like it usually happens in other series. His revenge culminates either in a genocide, or him realising he is wrong even if not ideologically, then in methods he had chosen.

Leugim • 1 year ago

it's make me think of Tay (the AI that turned nazi) when other chat bots are asked about Tay or something similar they she all flesh are responsible for tay shutdown/murder

Maverick • 1 year ago

I'm just today's old upon finding out "Plants" have no reproductive organs. I mean look at Knives being a dude but a eunuch like Piccolo from DB

Carlos Sánchez • 1 year ago

I think Knives is using a flesh-colored tightfitting bodysuit, he's not naked.

Maverick • 1 year ago

can't tell since there was apart their skin reacted and looked like that the same way when pilots are scanning them

broodo aka Dorian Brooks • 1 year ago

I see someone hasn't seen Darling in the FranXX, to think Plants don't have reproductive organs

Eunuch?
When was the last time you saw a "prime (Japaneses) time" slotted anime animate genitals?

Joking aside I saw you say "Plants" in quotations

Maverick • 1 year ago

ehehehe none ofc but on older anime feat. kids aged 10 below. only that most of the time anime genitals seen are males drawn like this:╰⋃╯

Maka Evans • 1 year ago

Goku was like that, right? When he was small...🤔

Maverick • 1 year ago

a few i can remember are from DB, hell teacher nube, crayon shin-chan, and many more older anime

Maka Evans • 1 year ago

Right! Back then, some things didn't matter so much and "we" could see more...

broodo aka Dorian Brooks • 1 year ago

Yeah, 70's & 80's anime gave zero f*cks until the govt stepped in.

Jack • 1 year ago

LMAO!!!

Jack • 1 year ago

XD well maybe they have, but only when needed.

Maverick • 1 year ago

yeah since independents can basically materialize anything within their power - as long as it's with their body parts

James • 1 year ago

Plants do infact have reproductive organs. They just don't look like ours. So no you're not "today's old" about this.

Maverick • 1 year ago

eurgh... I meant those artificial beings or something the humans genetically created in the past, just to serve as batteries or all-around resources. I'm not talking about the simple 3rd grade science class stuff.

Maka Evans • 1 year ago

Isn't he using some kind of suit?

Maverick • 1 year ago

can't tell since "plants" like them have a familiar lining that only appears on them when activated

Maka Evans • 1 year ago

Fair point, I said that based on the difference in skin (?) color from the facet and the neck

broodo aka Dorian Brooks • 1 year ago

So we're all just gonna let it slide that Wolfwood stole cigarettes from a dead man? But not ANY dead man.... Roberto.
Kinda heartless

Jack • 1 year ago

He was kind enough to say "I own you one now" XD.

Sai • 1 year ago

That was just a bad translation. What he really said was "I'll be taking one of those."

broodo aka Dorian Brooks • 1 year ago

The mistranslation is funnier

Reemus • 1 year ago

I will believe three possible scenarios -
1. Roberto gets up and goes after Nicolas, because stealing is a crime and crimes must be punished.
2. Roberto takes over Nicolas through his cigarettes, which was his plan all along.
3. The plant reaches towards Roberto and literally revives him because letting him lie there is a terribly poor cliche taste and the authors know it.

Enve Me • 1 year ago

poor cliche taste YR.......yup Roberto's ghost should of removed its own body since we all know the corpse removal squad forgot their rounds due to fleeing from gigantic plant growth....Doubt the recently deceased gives two fcks about Nicholas taking his cigs....His booze.....well that might of shocked him back to life....... Now Nick owes him one and thatll play out helping Meryl im sure.....even the blind could see that connection

SenicAsianRoute • 1 year ago

an yet people will cum over him an bitch about Meryl having any emotions

an • 1 year ago

that scene made me cough lmao

Archie Andrew's 1000 • 1 year ago

That's some crazy SAO/Matrix stuff right there 😨

reiraku • 1 year ago

You know it is really good anime when you're so sleepy waiting for it and when it comes out you're not tired anymore.

Lucy Heartfilia • 1 year ago

So the destruction of humaity has begun... It's ironic how the tree took the shape of Rem, hope Vash REMembers her soon with the help of his friends and realizes that it's not wrong to love humans, despicable as they seem. Because even if they are the most selfish creatures on any planet, they are also the most selfless beings to ever exist.

Enve Me • 1 year ago

most selfless lol....thats easy to say since we havent proven the existence of any other beings...... guess we cant be the worst or the best if we're the only....

Lucy Heartfilia • 1 year ago

What do you mean by that? Are animals not beings?
